Beschreibung

Boko Haram and the Nigerian State examines the factors responsible for Boko Haram heightened radicalisation and increased operationalisation in Nigeria from the missing perspective of adequate service delivery and accountability of the Nigerian government. In many quarters, Boko Haram nemesis has taken on the rhetoric of a 'global jihadist terrorist movement' without the in-depth understanding of its socio-cultural context in respect to its country of origin. Thus, this book argues that the intractable ethno-religious conflicts in Nigeria are manifestations of governments failure to address the prevalent socio-political and economic inequalities. Finally, it asserts that building a transformed political institution is a necessary step in addressing the countrys protracted violent conflicts.
