Gambling and gambling regulation are the subject of controversial social, political and legal debates that go far beyond the usual political differences over the regulation of the economy. Federal and state legislators are faced with the task of striking an appropriate balance between player protection and the interests of companies and consumers. The authors in this handbook address the historical, economic, social and addiction science, regulatory policy and legal doctrinal issues of the German gambling law. They deal with cross-sectional issues such as European gambling law and gambling constitutional law, civil, criminal and tax law as well as the regulation of individual forms of gambling.

Sebastian Unger (Herausgegeben von) ist Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Öffentliches Recht, Wirtschafts- und Steuerrecht an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum und seit 2019 Co-Direktor des drittmittelgeförderten Instituts für Glücksspiel und Gesellschaft.
