Beschreibung

This book highlights Algerias foreign policy in post-cold war era. However, throughout the three decades (1962-1992) has been known to have several trends. But when one traces these thirty years back one can easily illustrate three different approaches in which three regimes framed each period. Nevertheless, Algeria after the cancellation of the 27 December 1991 general elections, entered into a gloomy decade that damaged not only its internal affairs but also its external diplomacy. This research is an effort to shed light on Algeria during the period of national self-preservation in 1990s and national self-extension under President Boutaflika since 1999. In addition this research also highlighted the reasons that were behind the shift of Algerian diplomacy from national self-preservation to national self-extension featured mainly by the election of President Bouteflika on April 1999, marking a big shift in Algeria diplomacy.
