The main purpose of public broadcasting radio stations are to provide content that is of public value and not concentrate on revenue generations. The modern public broadcasting radio stations have to be finanicailly sustainable inorder to compete in the highly competitive media environment. Public Broadcasting Radio Stations rely heavily on traditionally advertising or state/government funding to sustain their operations which is not an ideal funding model. The book covers alternative sources that public broadcasting radio stations can utilize to acheive additional revenue. Alternative revenue sourcing assist public braodcasters to be emancipated from goverment or state funding.

Alvin Pillay obtained his masters in Management Sciences specialising in Business Administration in 2017. He is currently a radio station manager in South Africa for the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC). He has twenty five years braodcasting managment experience at the SABC by working in various departments within the SABC.
