Folk medicine existed traditionally and is learnt informally and orally through observations and demonstrations.Hyderabad Karnataka Region - a boon for indigenous knowledge has a glorious historical past, rich traditional customs and treasure of folk medicinal plants.In fact, long before the discovery and development of modern scientific medicine such as the use of pharmaceutical drugs and doctors surgery, traditional healing methods has been in used, and are still being used today in every aspect such as herbs, tree or plant roots, fruits, insects and food items are used for treatments of any illness ranging from AIDS, Cancer, Malaria, Pyoderma, Gangrene, Animal bites, Arthritis, Impotence, High Blood Pressure and Infected Wounds etc. This sort of folk medicine is quite popular in Hyderabad Karnataka Region and this book is an intellectual effort generated by indigenous people and local communities to provide remedies for various diseases. It serves as a new dimension to the folk medicine and fundamental source of information to the library and information science community with rich medicinal and botanical value.

Dr. Dundappa Amoji, UGC-Fellow working in Library of Central University of Karnataka, Gulbarga did M.L.I.Sc, M.Phil, Ph.D. and passed K-SET Exam. He served earlier at Sana Educational Charitable Trust and Navodaya Engineering College, Raichur as Librarian. He has published 28 research papers at national and international journals and conferences.
