Beschreibung
In high-risk organizations, skill decay in non-routine situations can pose significant safety risks. To prevent harm, operators must be able to reliably apply relevant competencies - even those that are rarely used due to high levels of automation. Unlike the aviation and nuclear power sectors, the chemical and pharmaceutical industries currently lack mandatory refresher training programs. This subproject aimed to implement and experimentally evaluate refresher training in an operational context. In collaboration with industry partners, a virtual reality-based training program was developed to support technical skills, while a gamified training approach was used for non-technical competencies. The effectiveness of these training courses was assessed in two separate studies. Results indicate that refresher training can help maintain critical skills and reduce errors in emergency situations.
