The purpose of publishing the book was ultimately to investigate the training effect on various physical and physiological variables at different phase of training i.e. preparatory, competition and transitional phases and also to assess the effect of training on physical and physiological variables on Womens Hockey players. It is acknowledged fact that physical and physiological variables play a decisive role in the performance of field hockey. Field Hockey has gained tremendous popularity all over the world and especially in India and this healthy trend is likely to continue in future in our country and in the world of field hockey.

Dr Sujay Bisht working as Assistant Professor in the Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (NERC) Guwahati, Assam. He has received the B.P.E, M.P.E and M.Phil & PhD from Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education Gwalior (M.P), India. He has published many research articles in the area of Field Hockey and Exercise Physiology.
