This piece of work is an academic effort written in a creative style of presentation aimed to be informative as well as thought provoking. The idea to evaluate and assess conflict of laws as seen in the various subject matter and aspects pertaining to international trade and transactions such as the laws of the WTO, the laws of the CISG, intellectual property laws as well as the laws governing international commercial arbitration from a comprehensive international perspective and to proceed further to assess the conflict of laws from a purely Malaysian context with particular focus upon bills of lading, conflict of laws from the perspective of intellectual property laws and the impact of the Competition Act 2010 and the conflict of laws in relation to the Arbitration Act 2005 is the brainchild of the author and in so doing presenting a unique manner of an overview of the subject matter of conflict of laws which has a novel quality to it. The author places significant emphasis on the style of presenting the subject matter in an interesting, intellectual as well as informative manner.
