Web crawling is the extraction of data from other websites and presenting it in a more indexed and refined form. Search engines can be taken as the most apt example for the same. Quite contrary to its simple name, web crawling goes deep into complexities like authenticity, authorization, revenue generation, and copyright issues. The present research work seeks to study, discuss and analyze the above problem and to find out the exact legal position to identify the issues and concerns in the matter of practical application and to explore the role of Intellectual Property Rights in web crawling. The comparative study has been made between India, USA and UK with a particular significance. As, USA is one of that developed country where the jurisprudence of IPR has come up from. And the concept of IPRs has developed in USA. India being the developing country is vastly taking pace in the field of IPRs. As India has borrowed major laws from the existing UK Constitution so it will be beneficial for the research to compare the position of web crawling in both these countries.
