Impact investing has been recently gaining significant attention as being a positive force to address social and environmental challenges. By comparing the path of this new sector in the U.K., the U.S., and Canada, this book seeks to understand ways in which current Canadian legislation either encourages or discourages impact investing in Canada.It will go on to explore recent government announcements from the U.K., Canada, and U.S. state governments outlining their intended plan to promote impact investing in their respective countries.

Katrina Charnley is a graduate of the University of Ottawa's Graduate School of Public and International Affairs. Her interest in Canadian social policies and the sustainability of their funding structures led her to explore new legislation in the U.K. and the U.S. which supports impact investment. She currently lives in Ottawa.
