Beschreibung

Privacy is one of the most prized of human rights. Yet it has never been as vulnerable and threatened in human history as it is today. Contemporary Law has not quite kept pace with it. Our frenzied love for social media and the exponential growth of cyberspace have narrowed down the dimensions of privacy to information privacy; the breach of which can result in severe consequences which may not necessarily be limited to the virtual world. We feel compelled to share every slightest bit of personal information on social media, often blissfully unsuspecting of the manner in which the same data could be abused to undermine our privacy and life. Existing cyber laws in India, though evolving, are as yet ill-equipped to address these complex privacy issues. I scrutinize legal lacunas and suggest improvements in the system based on my review of the changing concept of privacy and application of laws in other countries. The book covers almost every aspect of privacy on social networking sites and is thus essentially helpful for researchers and students working on similar topics. Written in simple language, is can be easily understood by anyone curious to understand online privacy issues.
