Community participation in education is a complex issue. It is heterogeneous in nature because it differs from context to context. The process of participation is fraught with various challenges and issues due to its diverse nature. However, despite of all this, concept of community participation has become a catchy word in the present day. Researchers and educationists have found it to be one of the major factors in determining and defining the quality of education. Parents in the present century are becoming increasingly aware of the need to participate actively in childrens their education. The process of community participation in education is based on the presumption that education is a shared responsibility. It is an activity in collaboration rather an activity in isolation. The need of partnership between schools, families and communities is the key to improve educational practices and services.

Iqbal Ahmad was born in 1974 in Chitral. He earned his MA degree in Political Science from University of Peshawar and M.Ed from Australian Catholic University, North Sydney. Currently, he is Faculty of Education in the Department of Education, University of Malakand, Pakistan.
