The book, Female Circumcision in Lagos State, Nigeria was written with the aim of using it as a counseling material that can be used to educate people on the harmful effects of female circumcision, the consequences and the effects on women. The book targeted students in Universities, Colleges of Education and the Polytechnics. It is going to be of use to healthcare providers and those who are interested in knowing more about female circumcision. The five-chapter book was well written with clear suggestions on how to eradicate female circumcision in this twenty first century. The book is a product of a comprehensive research carried out on female circumcision in Nigeria. It also reviewed the practice of female circumcision under different ethnic, traditional, cultural and religious practices with a view to joining the global campaign for its eradication from Nigeria. Female circumcision is a gratuitous act and a fundamental violation of the rights of girls and women. Counselors, tertiary institution lecturers, parents, policy makers in the health sector and interested readers in the society will benefit from using this book.

Dr Bosede Fasina is a Professional Guidance counsellor in the Department of Educational Guidance and Counseling, Ekiti State University. Ado Ekiti. She has published research papers in Nigeria and international journals in her field of specialization. She is married to Professor A. S. Fasina.
