Indian education system has witnessed significant changes in the last decade, i.e., the implementation of Right to Education (RTE) Act 2009 as one of its major highlights, a strong and vital step to attain the goal of universalization of elementary education (UEE) to eradicate illiteracy from the country. It necessitate education as the basic need for all- round development of children and promises to provide free and compulsory education to all children belonging to the age group of 6 to 14. One of the main aims enshrined in the RTE Act is to empower teachers as key change agents in school and to ensure competence building of teachers as professionals to be able to reflect on and improve their practices. Teachers occupy a significant place in the process of teaching and learning; they should be educated well for the job and updated as well according to the needs of society, nation and the world.

Mohd Suhail is a teacher, holds doctoral degree in education from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He has shown varied and multidimensional interest in Outdoor Education, Experiential Learning, Teacher Education and ICT. He has developed a training model based on outdoor learning for the continuous professional development of working teachers.
