The Malaysian Education System is continuously being reformed to improve and create the ecosystem conducive for effective Teaching and Learning (T&L) of 21st century skills to improve graduate employability. This study provides a preliminary set of emerging challenges in the T&L of 21st century skills leading to the need for understanding modern learners, the instructional design, modern learning environments and ways in which industries can be involved in the T&L process especially in Higher Learning. I hope this initial study provides valuable insights into sharing the responsibility as citizens in building Malaysia's Digital Economy.

The Author, Thiruchelvi K. Murugiah considers herself a lifelong learner who has 15 years of teaching and learning experience as an academic staff and programme coordinator in the School of Business under the Sunway Education Group in Malaysia. She is currently pursuing the Doctorate in Education (Educational Management).
