The main purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of conceptual change oriented instruction accompanied with analagies on eight grade students' understanding of chemical bonding concepts. In addition, the effect of instruction on students' attitude toward science as a school subject and the effect of gender differences on understanding of chemical bonding concepts were investigated in Turkey.

She was born in Adana, Turkey in 1980. She received master degree at the Gazi University Department of Elementary Science Education in 2002. She graduated and received the doctorate degree at the department of Secondary Science and Mathematics Education at Middle East Technical University in 2012.
