School principals faced challenges every day with or without the cooperation and coordination of teachers, parents, students and other social elements. Increasing development and advancement in the practice of education in the modern age increase the pressure of work upon the shoulders of the school principals. The principal is responsible to the school, students, teachers, parents and society. The same is true with the school principals in Senapati district of Manipur. Although the basic challenges remained the same, there are peculiar challenges in this study that surfaced which are significant in the context of the study area. It is here dealt with not only the challenges but even the measures taken up for the particular problems also.

Thenkhogin Haokip is an MA in Education and B.Ed. degree holder from Manipur University. He is also an awardee of JRF /UGC and a Ph.D. scholar from Assam University, Silchar. He also contributes as an empanelled and contractual resource person under SSA/SMA, Manipur. As a rising scholar, he has academic articles in journals and books to his credit.
