In the trend of increasing traffic it is necessary to have system monitoring the parking spaces efficiently. Until now there were usage of sensors to keep a tab on the traffic. The sensors helps in finding out the location of the car that is filled up. We have come up with an alternative method for monitoring the parking spaces. With help of image processing, the exact location of the cars occupying the parking spaces can be found and also total number of cars present in the parking lot can be found. This system is cost effective.
