Beschreibung

Many recant studies were performed in order to understand better the catheterizing process, but no research work was conducted such that it would enable to calculate the actual values of the developing stresses at the wall of the artery as a function of geometrical parameters and the properties of the materials of the stent and artery. In this book, analytical and numerical models are formulated in order to calculate the stresses applied to the walls of the artery as a function of the above cited parameters. A Potential Damage Factor was formulated, describing these stresses. The ability to evaluate the stresses that are formed in the artery, for various types of stents, could help to lessen the number of failures.
