A great deal of research and development work is focusing on improving the effectiveness of the existing therapies for treatment of diseases of the nail and developing new strategies that will enhance penetration of the drugs through the nail plate. The aim of this particular study was to measure the surface free energy of the finger nail plate that will aid in the design of a nail patch.In this book the structure of the nail has been discussed along with an overview of the most prevalent disease, onychomycosis and its treatment options.

Zara Sheikh has completed her MSc in Drug Delivery from UCL School of Pharmacy. She completed her B. Pharm from the University of Asia Pacific in Dhaka, Bangladesh. At present she is working as a Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacy at BRAC University.
