Affecting around 48 million of people worldwide and being the leading cause of mental impairment in elderly people, Alzheimer's disease is one of the most concerning problems in medicine all over the world. Millions of people are and will be affected by Alzheimer, other forms of dementia and neurodegenerative disorders. Contrary to some old beliefs, dementia is not a part of normal aging as the human brain can retain its full functions for a lifetime. It is however true that as we get older, the risk of us developing a neurodegenerative disorder increases. Nevertheless, it is not the cause of Alzheimer. A guide to understanding Alzheimer's disease will look through the reasons and development of Alzheimer and other forms of dementia, as well as consider the possible methods of treatment and management of the disease, not only for the patient, but also for the family members and close friends.

Fotso Bennis Mounir is a medical student in the Belarusian State Medical University from the 2020 promotion.He was born on December 6, 1997 in Yaoundé Cameroon and obtained the "Baccalauréat", the french diploma from graduation the high school "Collège François Xavier Vogt".
