Beschreibung

The understanding of the spatial distribution of elements in soil is important in the assessment of potential risks and development of remediation strategies for contaminated land. This book demonstrated that the presence and extent of in situ heterogeneity of metals in soil play an important role in contaminant uptake by plants. It also showed that realistic field conditions would provide reliable estimates of plant growth and contaminant uptake. This work has implications for improving the efficiency of phytoremediation of heavy metal contaminated land, phytomining, reliability of risk assessment and models of human exposure to metal contaminants in soil.
