APPLY THE LATEST NEUROSCIENCE RESEARCH TO YOUR OWN RESPONSES TO STRESS AND UNCERTAINTY AND THRIVE IN AN INCREASINGLY VOLATILE WORLD In Resilience By Design, celebrated coaches and trainers Dr. Ian Snape and Mike Weeks of Frontline Mind deliver the world’s most detailed, evidence-based how-to manual for developing elite level resilience and performance. The authors present step-by-step strategies and techniques used by people on the front lines of emergency response, business, defense, sports, and more, to help readers from all walks of life become members of the “resilient elite.” This book reveals how to quickly develop states of resilience in any volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous environment. Twelve beautifully illustrated chapters provide theory-backed, neuroscience-based, and practitioner-led solutions and insights that take readers on a potentially life-changing journey. Resilience By Design is the ultimate manual for understanding how we create our individual responses to people, places, and events that almost everyone wrongly labels as “stressful,” and in which everyday reactions lead to fatigue, ill health, poor decisions, and in some cases, early death. Resilience By Design isn’t only for struggling single parents, overwhelmed students, burned out business leaders, or jaded emergency workers. It’s also written for those people who desire to be their best under pressure, from world class athletes and artists to scientists and engineers, and especially those people on the front lines who keep us all safe. This is a book for anyone who wants to survive and thrive in a complex and turbulent world.

You'll also learn: * There's no such thing as an inherently stressful situation, workplace, or event. * How to appreciate and benefit from the hidden information in your unconscious signals and intuitions * How to adapt your decision making to meet the challenges of uncertainty, from the complicated and complex, to the outright chaotic * When to define your limits and 'line in the sand' so that you never expose yourself to unmanageable risk or potential burnout * What is it to, 'Know Thyself', through techniques that change perspective and bring clarity even in uncertain, turbulent times * Techniques that can be easily taught to people you care about * Lifelong resilience and being at your best is available to each of us, no matter what life throws at you. Resilience By Design was derived from the experiences of hundreds of people on the frontline of emergency services, defense, Olympic level sports, business, art, science, and many other areas of expertise--from firefighters and paramedics to social workers and athletes.
