The intricate and naturally resilient properties of soil are overlooked as a soil health factor inherent to all soils. Specific interactions of this resilient ability depend on the disturbance, but the complex behavior of soil quality can function to restore soil stability over time. If maintained to the highest quality, Kentucky soils can continue to be profitable for longer than may have been anticipated. Some soil quality indicators include biological, chemical, and physical properties. All indicators work together symbiotically to ensure overall soil quality. This can be achieved through sustainable soil management. Sustainable management systems are valuable to ensure future economic, environmental, and social progress without reducing future capacity. This can be further explained by obtaining a knowledge of the area environment, economic importance, and the necessary political participation for future orientation and success.

Hannah Vance attended Murray State University and graduated with a bachelor's in agricultural science in 2009 and a master's in sustainability science in 2016. Her experience includes 3 years of independent research in soil quality as well as teaching experience in soil quality, soil management, sustainable energy technology, and statistics.
