Das Werk enthält eine Sammlung ausgewählter Sprichwörter der Dagara-Gesellschaft in Westafrika, die großenteils obsolet und kaum bekannt sind. Manche sind nur noch selten in Gebrauch, andere erfreuen sich noch heute großer Beliebtheit. Wieder andere stellen Neuschöpfungen dar.
