Beschreibung

Islamic countries are currently facing different challenges of poverty, corruption, poor law and order situation, and sectarianism. Moreover the intensifying propaganda, Islamophobia, and bilateral stereotyping has multiplied the gap between East and West. Qaisra Shahraz, post 9-11 Pakistani diasporic English writers advocates the need for interfaith and intercultural dialogue and understandings in her literary works. This study is an exploration of the conflicting value and beliefs in her novel Revolt. She engaged peoples from both East and West to come to terms with this complex situation and to find a way out by addressing the existing margins and the shadows of darkness. This study also includes the possibility of co-existence of the societies of both East and West. This exploration has introduced a slice of reality about the Pakistani people sandwiched between societal age old taboos, homophobia, Islamophobia, and modernity.
