With the advent of Postmodernism and the emerge of Cultural Studies ,there has been a more practical expectation from the Literature that is produced by writers.In other words ,scholars have repulsed the idea of tracing the elements like love and betrayal in Victorian novels or heresy in Renaissance dramas. The new wave of literary critics and scholars desire something which delves into the depth of postmodern era literature and depicts it in a medium which not only deserves the applause from literary aesthetic perspectives but also puts it forward as a suitable case for the application of various critical theories that leads to a appropriate scrutiny of our today's world. American Studies is widely regarded as one of those subcategories of Cultural Studies that due to the affinity which is shared by English Literature ,Cultural Studies and Critical Theory, it is a promising choice for English Literature graduates who have covered a great deal of Literary Criticism alongside their literary reading lists.
