Beschreibung
Old Testament studies long considered theology of the Old Testament the crowning task of the discipline. However, how one should undertake a theology of the Old Testament has become increasingly unclear in recent decades. Konrad Schmid first clarifies the historical conception of theology applied to the Bible, turning then to discuss the multidimensionality of the present Hebrew Bibles and Old Testaments in order finally to survey the theological emphases of the books and collections of the Old Testament on the basis of prominent texts. The author also includes an outline of the theological history of the Old Testament as well as a thematically oriented and historically complex exposition of important themes of the theology of the Old Testament. The volume simultaneously views itself as a synthesis of current scholarship on the Old Testament from a theological perspective.
