Hindu caste based system is one of the root cause of untouchability in some South Asian societies namely India and Nepal. Untouchables also known as Dalits are socially, culturally, economically, and politically discriminated. The system has continued to exist because many are forced to continue to practice their old age profession such as ironworker, shoemaker, sweepers, etc. Social and cultural exclusion, lack of opportunities, stigma and discrimination has worsen the social world and quality of life of Dalits. This book is about Dalits and how they understand and interpret their own world and world around them. This study provides a glimpse of how Dalits situation in Nepal as well as psychological make-up of Dalits. The author hopes that this study will help the readers and social activists to understand and help to uplift the situation of the Dalits.

Autorenporträt

Pavan K. Yadav has obtained his M. A. in Psychology from Tribhuwan University, Nepal in 2015 AD and has been working in different organizations and providing psychosocial service in different communities. Currently he is working with clinicians of ELRHA project of Colorado University in Nepal. He belongs to Tarai region, a deprived group of Nepal.
