Beschreibung

Relationships among Emotional Intelligence, Cognitive Ability, Self-concept and Academic Performance of Secondary School Students in Sokoto Metropolis: Implication for Counselling is a research based book that investigated the relationships of the above psychological constructs with academic performance of secondary school students. It is critically observed that, students recorded mass failure in their Senior School Examinations (SSCE). Many factors were attributed to such failure - lack of control of emotions, low cognitive ability and poor general self-concept. A replica of such study was conducted in Sokoto metropolis with a view to providing counselling interventions. Positive relationships with academic performance were significantly established; except cognitive ability and contributing factors were identified, counselling solutions were proffered. Therefore the book is useful to school guidance counsellors, psychologists and researchers who want to contribute to knowledge.
