This book discusses five issues in psychoanalysis. Whether or not cyberanalysis is a viable form of psychoanalysis. The use of functional magnetic resonance imaging in attachment research, the study of panic attacks, and quantifying psychoanalytic outcomes. Whether or not psychopharmacology should be used during psychoanalysis. Risks/benefits that may result from patients being subjects of research publications. And, application of psychoanalytic theory to Dissociative Identity Disorder. These are issues that most psychoanalysts will be exposed to at some point in their practices: teletherapy, quantitative research, psychopharmacology, publication of case material, and the application of psychoanalytic theory to practice. Reviews of each topic come mostly from psychoanalytic literature but also include literature from other health related professions, case material from the author, and the authors experience as a licensed psychoanalyst and published researcher. This book was written for psychoanalysts but may also be of interest to psychologists, social workers, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, nurses, and researchers in the field of health related science.
