In the odessy of knowledge, stylistics and semiotics have emerged as two epsitemic trends to unlock the secrets of literary discourse. The quest for meaning is the hallmark of the stylsitc - semiotic research. If stylistics chases meaning and meaning-making in a literary discourse, semiotics hunts the potentiality of meaning in all forms of culture. Being so, Sailing to Roseland stands for a work of art that is created by the power of imagination, and encoded into a set of structural relations. The central area of the analysis is the poetic- mythic discourse. While stylistic scrutiny is devoted to Keats and Kabbanis poetic works, semiotics fundamentally explores the Mesopotamian and Greek mythologies. This worldview may give the book its universal feature.

SAMIR AL-SHEIKH (PhD) (critic, poet, transaltor) is current Professor of linguistics and literature at Univeristy of Misan, Iraq. He majors in Literary Stylisitcs and Semiotics of Classical Myth . He is the author of The Blue Rose at Twilight: On Modern Arabic Verse and The Culture Hero in Classical Myth.
