The essays included in this volume deal with a wide variety of philosophers, ranging from Kierkegaard, Schopenhauer, and Nietzsche to Husserl, Bataille, Sartre, and Habermas. Some studies are comparative in nature, focusing on what separates these thinkers, rather than what brings them together. The author also discusses such philosophical tropes as temporality, the sacred, phenomenology, the will, and the Dao.
