The main theme of the book is to identify the relationship between acting and existential dimensions of human life. The author analyzed the dialectic interaction between an existential consciousness with the consciousness of acting, described the peculiarities of functioning of a holistic, streaming mechanism of perception of reality behind an existential experience and an existential consciousness, demonstrated by its contrast with discrete modeling used propositional acting consciousness. He traced the history of the interaction of an existential and acting types of human activity showed the place and role of apophatic concept in the process this interaction. Three main forms of apophatism have been described: apophatic philosophy of antiquity, apophatic theology of the middle ages and apophatic anthropology of modernity. The author studied historical ways of use and legitimization of altered states of consciousness as a means of accessing existential experience. He substantiated the idea of constitutive role of an existential experience in shaping the human understanding of the Absolute.

Leonid Solonko was born in 1957. Graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Since 1983 he works at the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
