Beschreibung
Teleological arguments based on the order of the world point to the existence of a creator, and with the natural sciences now ever better able to describe these orders, the prospects for such arguments in favour of God succeeding have, contrary to popular belief, not worsened but improved. The phenomenon of fine-tuning represents a physical observation that a teleological argument can begin with: if the constants that rule the design of our universe had had even slightly different values, conscious life would never have happened. Matthias Schleiff develops the teleological fine-tuning argument from this phenomenon by confronting alternative explanatory hypotheses - such as randomness, the Anthropic Principle, or the theory of the multiverse - and rekindles the conversation between the natural sciences, philosophy and theology about the beginning of the world.
