Beschreibung

Over 75% of an average Kenyan secondary students instructional time is spent in oracy (listening and speaking) contexts. Research done in East Africa has revealed that the teaching of this skill is largely overlooked and the instructional strategies used to teach it lack variety and depth. This text is therefore a result of the author's study of his own practice done in a Kenyan Secondary classroom focusing on learning how teachers of English can integrate the computer in the teaching of oracy in Secondary Schools in East Africa. The text, coming at a time when there is a wide political and policy shift towards e-governance and e-learning in the East African Community provides practical solutions and implications for language teachers and policy makers in the education sector. Drawing from current literature and written in easy flowing English, this book covers the emerging issues in ICT and Language. This text is suitable for language teachers, language policy writers in countries where ICT is being integrated in the curriculum for the first time as well as for students pursuing Educational Technology.
