Beschreibung

Public speaking development walks with us from the earliest age and it allows us to interact with others and to express our feelings. Nevertheless, at the end of compulsory education, many people have problems when speaking in public in their mother tongue both as professionals and citizens. Besides, there is a low presence and a lack of educational tradition in teaching public speaking in our country, Spain. The aim of this research is to rethink on the current demand for communication skills among which are the ability to express ideas, persuade and influence others. The importance of the development of the competence to speak in public from an early age as a future preparation through cooperative learning is related to the increase of self-concept. These three aspects combined can respond to two educational needs: education for dialogue and education for coexistence. To some extent, Cooperative Learning improves the students speaking work and this learning may have future positive effects on academic achievement and professional and personal success.
