What insights can historical documents offer for today's pedagogical thinking and action? This volume brings together Historische Lehrstücke: Contributions to Historical Research on Education, which use historical documents to analyse fundamental problems of education and their scientific treatment that persist to this day. The majority of the documents are from the so-called "pedagogical" 18th century; in addition to theoretical texts, literary and graphic texts are also included.
