CBNRM projects are meant for local people to benefit from managing and conserving natural resources around them. It is operational in the region but whether people benefit and the degree to which they do so is a matter unknown. This book looks at this matter, using Mahenye as a case study and employs Key Informant Interviews, Focus Group Discussions and questionnaires to tackle the matter. The aim of the research was to provide an understanding of potential benefits likely to come out of Community Based Natural Resources Management, specifically CAMPFIRE programme. The hypothesis is that CAMPFIRE benefits at local level are so minor and not meeting the needs of the people.
