MULTIDISCIPLINARY: The book is applicable to faculty who teach undergraduate and graduate courses in a number of areas including Education, Media and Cultural Studies, American Studies, Communications, English and Film Studies. The treatment of various forms of otherness makes it ideal for introductory level courses or more advanced sections that explore representation and otherness and their relationship to film. Given the breadth of the anthology, the book is also likely to interest individuals teaching courses in alternative thought, such as LGBTQ Studies, African American Studies, Critical Race Theory, Disability Studies, and others that explore culture from a critical lens. We also believe it will appeal to those doing critical theory in Political Science, Philosophy, Women’s Studies, Composition Studies and other interdisciplinary programsACCESSIBLE: Hollywood Exploited will not be a research manuscript or weighty academic tome, but rather a lively volume of debate over issues of concern to audiences inside and outside the university. We thus believe its appeal could extend beyond the academy to readers interested in the effects of Hollywood film on today’s culture. In the spirit of books by such authors as Henry Giroux, Douglas Kellner and Michael Eric Dyson, amongst many others, we plan to ensure that the essays are accessible and engaging to scholars, students and those in the general public interested in critical reflection on film and popular cultureVERY ACTIVE EDITORS: With the editors‘ success in organizing and marketing books to academic and activist communities around the world, they are no stranger to selling and promoting work of this type. Collectively, their scholarship is known worldwide and used in college classrooms across the globe. Nocella last book, Igniting a Revolution, sold 5,000 copies in less than two months. Van Heertum has published over 120 articles on music, media, and pop culture in magazines and journals and he has ventured to unify cultural theory with the independent music and film subculture of New York in his classroom and well as social activismFOREWORD BY HIGH PROFILE MEMBER OF EDUCATION COMMUNITY: Foreword by Lawrence Grossberg
