This book provides a comprehensive and in-depth description of the education system in Lao PDR. It covers pre-school, primary, secondary general, secondary technical and vocational, post-secondary non-higher education, and adult non-formal education and training. The book contains eleven chapters, a glossary of terms and abbreviations used, an annex showing the organizational structure of the Ministry of Education and Sports, including the linkages from central level, to provincial, and to district level. Finally an index is provided. It will cover not only public provision but also private sector provision of education and training.
Autorenporträt
Richard Noonan studied Comparative Education and Economics of Education at Columbia University (Ed.D.) and Stockholm University (Ph.D.). As an education economist, he has served as consultant to UNESCO, the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, the International Labor Organization, and many other multilateral and bilateral international development agencies. He has published numerous articles and several books on education systems, with an emphasis on historical and quantitative description. He retired in 2012 and now devotes his time to volunteer work and writing.
