Here is the presentation of one of the most important volumes of music of all times for solo instrument. While not strictly musicological, the approach has been to reconcile practical aspects and matters of historical concern from the performers perspective. A peer of Bach, Haendel and Telemann, Silvius Leopold Weiss (1687-1750) was the greatest lutenist of the late Baroque, and his huge corpus of music - of an astonishing quality - is still being discovered today. Michel Cardin has received international recognition as a teacher, a performer, a musicologist and a producer. Full professor at the University of Moncton,he has recorded 17 CDs on Baroque lute and theorbo and has given concerts and conferences on 4 continents. He won several awards and has published musicological articles in 6 different languages.
