Songs for Piano is an exclusive selection of music from Mikis Theodorakis` song cycles, ballets and films such as Zorba the Greek, and from the oratorio Axion Esti. Inspired by ancient Greek mythology and pictures of everyday life, the music reflects the composer`s fight for freedom and his love for the Greek people. For the first time, these songs are available to the intermediate piano player. Pianist Tatiana Papageorgiou, one of the leading interpreters of Theodorakis` music, has arranged the pieces according to the original recordings with great attention to detail.
