The book you are holding is a deep exploration of the life and work of one of the biggest painters of the 20th century. Francis Bacon was born in Ireland but due to his attitude to life and especially painting he managed to influence artists all over the world. His work is filled with violence, anxiety, horror and depression which stemmed in the world wars. It is also reflected in the way he used colours, brushstrokes and motifs. Besides Francis Bacon, the book introduces artistic movements in the 20th century and historical, social and cultural background of the period.

Eva Vrublová comes from the Czech Republic and has one son. She graduated from the University of Ostrava in 2008 focused on teaching English and Fine Arts. She has already translated 6 books from English to Czech and illustrated 3 books. She also paints pictures. Besides her family and work she loves animals and England.
