Franz Marcs work captivates viewers with its vibrant colors and a deep connection to nature, which is particularly evident in his depictions of animals. Although the artist led a rather reclusive life, he was no loner; instead, he built an extensive network spanning Paris, Berlin, and Munich. Together with Wassily Kandinsky, he founded the editorial collective Der Blaue Reiter and became a passionate pioneer of modernism. His work, created between 1904 and 1914, evolved toward Cubist formal dissolution; with the outbreak of World War I, his creative output came to an abrupt end.
