Beschreibung
The first, richly illustrated monograph on the influential Ghanaian artist brings together important works from his four-decades-long career, up to and including the Serpentine mural created shortly before Kwamis death. Atta Kwami won the prestigious Maria Lassnig Prize 2021 in partnership with Serpentine, which consisted of the realisation of this first monograph on his work and a mural commission at Serpentine North Garden, which was presented between 2022 and 2024. The mural originated from a painting that Kwami was reworking in his studio in 2021, shortly before his death. Richly illustrated, the book features a previously unpublished interview with the artist by Hans Ulrich Obrist alongside new commissions, with a selection of important works from Kwamis career. Contributors include Melissa Blanchflower, Pamela Clarkson, Clémentine Deliss, Ama Dogbe, Lisa Milroy, Nkgopoleng Moloi and John Picton. Ed.: Natalia Grabowska.
