Blickwinkel von Tier und Technologie Leonie Kellein (geb. 1993) ist Künstlerin und Filmemacherin. In ihrer forschungsorientierten Praxis setzt sie sich mit Trauma, Plastizität und verkörpertem Wissen auseinander. Für ihr jüngstes Projekt, die multimediale Installation A Wing Beat! A Wing Beat!,suchte Kellein nach medialen Möglichkeiten, die Perspektive eines Tieres als technologischen Blick darzustellen. Das Projekt folgt der Sicht einer Brieftaube - oder vielmehr den Apparaturen, die sie mit jedem Flügelschlag transportiert. Was passiert, wenn wir den Blickwinkel eines Tieres durch Kameratechnik sehen? Wo sind die Übergänge zwischen Objekt und Subjekt? Der durch Bildtechnologien bestimmte menschliche Blick wird hier von einer Taube übernommen. Dabei werden Poetik, Politik und Geschichte von Kamerabildern - insbesondere von Drohnen- und Taubenkamera-Fotografien - zu den Tieren ins Verhältnis gesetzt. Das Künstlerinnenbuch überträgt die gleichnamige Videoinstallation der Künstlerin auf das Buch-Medium. Mit Essays von Agnieszka Roguski und Jayne Wilkinson. Animal and Technological Perspectives Leonie Kellein (b. Basel, 1993) is a visual artist and filmmaker. Her research-oriented practice examines questions of trauma, plasticity, and embodied knowledge. For her most recent project, the multimedia installation A Wing Beat! A Wing Beat!, Kellein studied possible ways of using media technology to represent an animals perspective. The project investigates how a homing pigeonor actually, the equipment it carries with each flap of its wingssees things. What happens when technology lets us see the world from an animals vantage point? Where are the points of transition between object and subject? A pigeon here adopts the human gaze with the visual technologies that inform it. The resulting work sets the poetics, politics, and history of camera imagesand especially of drone and pigeon-camera photographsin relation to the animals. The artists book transposes Kelleins video installation of the same title into the printed medium. With essays by Agnieszka Roguski and Jayne Wilkinson.
