Starchitecture. A concept that has proliferated popular discourse throughout the past decade whilst simultaneously retaining a sense of ambiguity. Gaining momentum since the 1990s, it is inherently contentious in its nature, and although recently coined, the notion may already be facing extinction. Exploring starchitecture, this dissertation seeks to emphasise and examine the various contestations that have ensued, using the example of Tadao Andos Pavilion in Piccadilly Gardens as a platform upon which to consolidate surrounding theory.

Isabella is currently an Events Project Manager at Ministry of Sound, London. She got her B.A (Hons) degree in Human Geography from the University of Manchester in 2015. Her interests are not limited to, but include; photography and art, cities and spaces, environmental affairs and how humans both have and will alter the world we live in.
