Pera District, or with its' mostly known name Istanbul Istiklal Street, has been one of the attraction points of the city since the period of Ottoman Empire. The apartments that were constructed here in the 19th century are the first apartment blocks of Ottoman architectural style as well. These apartments are still standing here as the symbols of Ottoman modern life since then. According to their identity, which is about symbolic axles, in modern urban life and their architecture, the text is focused on Istiklal Street apartment blocks' facades on Pera District. In this sense,the research contains, observing, photography and catalogue of apartments facades in Grande Rue De Pera. In the research literature review and at the same time qualitative searching method are used against to observation. Let's "see and live" the sense of the 19th century apartments on Grande Rue De Pera.

Elifnur Tandacgunes is not only an architect, but also an architectural historian, who had her master degree from Yildiz Technical University, 2014. Since 2009 she has been taken roles in important projects of Project Limited Company, which is one of the prestigious architectural firms of Turkey in Istanbul.
