'Heimat and the Economy. A Historical Contextualization of the Interdependency Between a Viable Heimat Concept and Sustainable Economic Activity' This study presents a multidimensional and holistic conceptualization of the German concept Heimat from an economic perspective. Based on historical analysis, it serves as a theoretical foundation for sustainable economic approaches which strongly take into account peoples attachment to Heimat. Furthermore, Heimat-related economic approaches are presented as alternatives to a globalized economy and the excess abundance characteristic of affluent society.
Autorenporträt
Sebastian Schmidt studied Industrial Engineering (Construction) at Leipzig University of Applied Sciences (HTWK) from 2009 to 2014 where he was a scholarship recipient of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. He received his doctorate under Professor Frank-Lothar Kroll (Chemnitz University of Technology) and Professor Rüdiger Ulrich (HTWK) in 2020. He is an active contributor to both the Institut für Regionale Wertschöpfung at the HTWK and the Verein für regionalkundliche Bildung MitteDeutschland.
